Our digitization will preserve the quality of the video using an advanced method known as RF capture. Through this, we seek to have higher video quality than conventional methods such as a USB dongle or a DVD recorder.

Pricing

Prices follow a model where each tape has a specific cost for digitization. For example, if you have 7 VHS tapes, the first 3 tapes will cost $21.99 each, the next 3 will cost $19.99 each, and the last tape will cost $17.49 for a total of $141.93 (plus tax).

We accept checks, cash, payment cards, and PayPal.

Shipping process

If you are within 15 miles of our business location of Watertown, Minnesota, we may, at your request, directly pick up and drop off your tapes at your location for a charge of $5. Appointments can be scheduled by email correspondance.

Otherwise, you will have to ship your tapes to our business location, and we will ship them back. Note that shipping costs vary depending on package size and weight. We will give instructions in the email correspondance.

Notes

By using our service, you assert that you yourself own the copyright or that you are acting on behalf of the owner.

We will not digitize a tape if it cannot be played safely due to damage from moisture, mold, or the like.

The transfer will reflect the current quality of the tape. Tape-based media degrade over time. Additionally, tapes recorded in Extended Play (EP) are inherently lower-quality. Tape degradation may manifest in ways such as lines or streaks in the video, blotchy colors, or a static or buzzing noise in the audio.

By default, we will deinterlace your footage for a better viewing experience on modern displays, except for conversions to DVD. If you would like the original interlacing preserved, please tell us in the message section of our contact form.

The files will be MP4 files that are around 5 to 8 gigabytes for two hours of footage.
